On December 18, 2023, PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP) provided emergency assistance in the form of eighty relief packages, consisting of rice, sugar, cooking oil, and sanitation aid, to the victims of floods and landslides in Pekon Kacapura and Pekon Sukaraja, Semaka Subdistrict, Kabupaten Tanggamus. The natural disasters of floods and landslides in Kabupaten Tanggamus occurred on December 1, 2023. Semaka Subdistrict was one of the severely affected areas, where the disaster impacted approximately 154 households.
The Head of Semaka Subdistrict, Mr. Syafrizal S.Pd.I, who was present during the assistance handover by GMP, expressed gratitude for the direct support. He stated that GMP’s assistance would greatly help the flood and landslide victims, representing the primary aid in early December 2023. He thanked GMP for their caring attitude, allowing the presence and benefits of the company to be felt even in Kabupaten Tanggamus.
Egi Wiragala, the Coordinator of Gunung Madu Cares, mentioned that this aid was part of the emergency response assistance program and was one of the company’s ways of showing concern for the community. The company’s assistance program aims to alleviate the burdens of the community affected by disasters. Furthermore, this quick response program reflects the company’s sensitivity and compassion amid disasters occurring in Lampung Province, where the company is based.
