The management of PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP) continues to work on preventing the transmission of viruses, including influenza, which can infect anyone, especially workers at high-risk work locations.
The management of GMP provided 510 values of Influenza vaccines for registered workers. The administration of influenza vaccines was carried out at the Klinik Pratama Rawat Inap in the Covid prevention room on Wednesday, 25 May 2022.
This vaccination targets only workers who are at high risk of getting a fever or contracting the virus in their work environment. Klinik Pratama Rawat Inap had proposed procuring influenza vaccines in January 2022, while the handover of vaccines from suppliers was in April 2022.
The Head of the Klinik Pratama Rawat Inap, Dr. Ricky Satriawan Prawirasudarmo, said that the vaccine used was trivalent with flu bio type produced by Bio Farma. This trivalent vaccine means that the vaccine uses three types of virus strains. Administering vaccines is important even though influenza is a disease that can heal by itself without having to go to the hospital.
“It is important to be given to prevent the disease,” said the doctor.
Considering that the influenza virus infects the respiratory tract, the symptoms include dry cough, fever, headache, runny nose, muscle aches, and lethargy. The cough symptom can be very severe and last up to 2 weeks. Because the symptoms are similar to Covid-19, influenza vaccination is crucial.
