
PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP) continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting land fire prevention and mitigation efforts through collaboration with village governments, security forces, and local communities. This commitment was demonstrated through the GMP Peduli Api program held at Tanjung Anom Village Hall, Terusan Nunyai District, Central Lampung, on Friday, April 24, 2026.
The event was attended by the Head of Terusan Nunyai District, Andri Yulizar, S.E., M.M., the Terusan Nunyai Police Chief, AKP Daniel, the Head of Tanjung Anom Village, as well as the Head of Services Department of PT Gunung Madu Plantations, Iwan Kurniawan.
GMP Peduli Api is a fire prevention and mitigation training program attended by approximately 100 participants, consisting of partner sugarcane farmers and village officials from Tanjung Anom and Bandar Sakti villages. The training was conducted comprehensively through both theoretical sessions and hands-on field practice. Participants were equipped with basic knowledge of land fires, preventive measures, and emergency preparedness. In addition, they took part in fire extinguishing practices using burlap sacks and portable fire extinguishers (APAR), as well as simulations using fire trucks.
In his remarks, Head of Services Department of PT GMP, Iwan Kurniawan, expressed appreciation for the active participation of all attendees. He hopes the knowledge gained can be shared within their respective communities. He also emphasized that land fires not only impact the environment but also public health, socio-economic conditions, and business sustainability. Therefore, prevention is the key priority.

Meanwhile, the Head of Tanjung Anom Village, Wasis Trisno Hadi, stated that the area has a relatively high risk of land fires due to its dominance of plantation and agricultural land, making this program highly beneficial for the community.
As a form of tangible support, GMP also handed over fire extinguishers (APAR) to Tanjung Anom Village and Bandar Sakti Village to support fire mitigation efforts in office areas and residential environments.This initiative aims to enhance community capacity in preventing forest and land fires, while also raising awareness of fire hazards in the surrounding environment. Through this program, GMP hopes not only to strengthen individual capabilities but also to foster collective awareness that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility.The GMP Peduli Api program is expected to serve as a concrete preventive measure against potential land fire risks, particularly in the Central Lampung area.
