PT Gunung Madu Plantations (PT GMP), through its Gunung Madu Peduli program, held a Fire Awareness Socialization event at the Terbanggi Ilir Village Hall, Bandar Mataram District, on September 30, 2025.
The event was attended by 50 participants consisting of local security officers (hansip), village officials, and members of the PKK women’s group. The main goal of the activity was to enhance community knowledge and awareness about fire hazards and basic fire-handling techniques—both in households and within the community. The event was opened by the Head of Terbanggi Ilir Village, Mr. Suhariyato, together with PT GMP’s General Affairs representative, Mr. Egi Wira Gala, who emphasized the importance of public awareness in fire prevention and control efforts.
The socialization was divided into two sessions:
- Classroom Session:
This session presented theoretical material on how to extinguish small fires using fire extinguishers (APAR) or wet burlap sacks. The session was delivered by Occupational Health and Safety Expert, Mr. Putu Satria Sentana Yoga. - Field Session:
In this session, participants practiced direct fire extinguishing techniques using simple tools that can be applied in everyday situations. The practical training was led by the PT GMP Security Team, headed by Mr. Teguh and Mr. Dedi.
Through this program, PT Gunung Madu Plantations hopes that the community will gain a better understanding of fire prevention measures and become more responsive in handling initial fire incidents, both at home and in their surroundings.
