PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP), through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, held a mass circumcision event at the Mataram Ilir Village Hall in Seputih Surabaya District, Central Lampung Regency, on Saturday, June 29, 2024. This event was attended by 18 children from the Mataram Ilir Village community. The event ran smoothly with the support of 13 medical personnel from PT GMP Health Centre.
Representing PT GMP, Mr. Asep Eka expressed his joy in collaborating with the residents through this event. “We realize that maintaining the company’s continuity cannot be done alone; we need synergy and support from the community around the company. As a form of our concern, the company also provides necessary assistance to the villages around the company,” he said. Mr. Asep hopes the mass circumcision will benefit the participants and their parents, especially hoping that the participants will become more devout individuals after being circumcised.
The Head of Mataram Ilir Village, Helmi Johan, expressed his gratitude to the company management for their concern by organizing the circumcision event in Mataram Ilir Village. “GMP has provided a lot of assistance, especially for physical development, such as repairing the village hall and building the village office. The latest in 2024 is housing renovation assistance for Mataram Ilir Village residents,” he said. He invited all community members to support the success of PT GMP, especially in facing the company’s harvesting and milling season to achieve maximum results.
One of the circumcision participants, Abraham, appeared calm during the circumcision process. He did not cry like some of his peers who were also being circumcised. This fourth-grade elementary school student came accompanied by his grandfather, as his father was away and his mother was working in the fields. He completed the circumcision process smoothly. With a beaming smile, he exited the circumcision room. Then, he was approached by the event committee to receive a souvenir in the form of a sarong and a cap, as well as an envelope containing pocket money. The mass circumcision event ended well, and the participants and their guardians returned home with light hearts.
