Stunting is a condition where body growth is hampered due to chronic malnutrition in early life. Stunting can have long-term impacts on a child’s physical and cognitive development, as well as have a negative impact on health and productivity in later life.
In the context of interventions to reduce stunting rates in Central Lampung Regency, PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP) through its CSR program provided additional food package assistance on May 27 2024 at the Jatidatar Village Hall, Bandar Mataram District. The targets of this program are toddlers with nutritional adequacy below the red line and pregnant women with chronic energy deficiency conditions. A total of 67 packages were given to toddlers and 52 packages were given to pregnant women. This assistance covers all villages in Bandar Mataram sub-district, including Mataram Udik Village, Terbanggi Mulya, Terbanggi Ilir and Jatidatar. This activity was attended by the Head of the Service Department, Iwan Kurniawan, S.T, the Head of Bandar Mataram Subdistrict Eko Meidianto, S.pd, M.M, the Head of Jatidatar Village Mrs. Siti Aisyah and the Head of Jatidatar Community Health Center.
In 2023, GMP will provide a Supplemental Food Program in the Canal Nunyai District, thereby successfully reducing the stunting rate from 9.5% to 7.6%. Head of the Service Department, Iwan Kurniawan, ST in Everything, said that Gunung Madu always supports the government’s program to overcome stunting to achieve a golden Indonesia. This provision of additional food is in collaboration with health workers and the local government so that assistance is right on target.
Head of Bandar Mataram Subdistrict, Eko Medianto, added that the additional food given must contain important nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals needed by the body for optimal growth. Paying attention to the nutritional balance in additional food is very important to ensure that the nutritional needs of toddlers and pregnant women are met. “We thank PT GMP Management for always actively providing assistance to community members around the company, including this stunting alleviation program,” he concluded.
