GMP Cup U-11 Soccer 2024 mini tournament was successfully held at the SMPN 3 Kanan Nunyai Field, Kampung Bandar Agung, on 1 and 8 September 2024. This event was attended by 24 teams from various elementary schools throughout Central Lampung. This agenda is part of PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP)’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, with the aim of supporting the development of young talent in sports, especially football.
The tournament was officially opened by the Head of Services Department PT GMP, Iwan Kurniawan, together with the Head of the Terusan Nunyai District, accompanied by the Head of Bandar Agung Village and representatives of the Terusan Nunyai Police. As a symbol of the start of the competition, the Head of Terusan Nunyai District released balloons into the air.
Chairman of the 2024 GMP Cup Committee, Egi Wira Gala, appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants. The match lasted enthusiastically for two days with tight competition. SDIT Smart Insani as the winner 1st place, followed by SDN Onoharjo in 2nd place, and SDN 2 Sumber Bahagia as 3rd place. Muhammad Zidan from SDN Sumber Bahagia recorded himself as the top scorer with 7 goals.
The winners received medals, trophies and coaching money which were handed over by GMP Operations Director Mr Chong Seng Wai as the culmination of the activity. The 2024 GMP Cup is expected to become an annual event that supports the development of early childhood football and strengthens relationships between schools and hopes to be held every year, said Muhammad Zidan.
