PT Gunung Madu Plantations (GMP) has shown its commitment to education by providing scholarships to 108 outstanding elementary school students from the villages of Gunung Batin Udik, Gunung Batin Baru, and Gunung Batin Ilir. The scholarship award ceremony took place at the Gunung Batin Udik Village Hall, Terusan Nunyai Subdistrict, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. The event was attended by PT GMP Director Mrs. Jadey Hurray, the Head of Terusan Nunyai Subdistrict, the Head of Gunung Batin Udik Village, as well as the Education Supervisor of Terusan Nunyai Subdistrict.
The scholarships included financial support for education as well as school supplies such as stationery, books, and school bags. This initiative is expected to encourage students to stay motivated in their studies, continue achieving excellence, and grow into a high-quality next generation. On this occasion, Iwan Kurniawan, representing PT GMP management, stated that this program reflects the company’s concern for education, particularly in the surrounding communities. “This scholarship is intended to boost the learning spirit of our students, who are the future generation of our nation. Moreover, it represents the company’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the local area. We also ask for the community’s prayers so that, at its 50th anniversary, Gunung Madu can continue to provide even greater benefits to society,” said Mr. Iwan Kurniawan.
In his remarks, delivered by the Subdistrict Secretary, Mr. Seodega, S.T., M.M., the Head of Terusan Nunyai Subdistrict expressed gratitude for the company’s consistent concern for the local community. He highlighted that this is the first scholarship program carried out by the company in Terusan Nunyai Subdistrict and expressed hope that it would continue in the coming years. Through this scholarship program, PT Gunung Madu Plantations hopes that the beneficiaries will be more motivated to achieve excellence and embrace education as a key foundation for a brighter future.
